The following describes how to use this manual, especially how
to search this manual. By using this manual and its search methods
correctly, you can find your information faster.

This Document
Functions associated with the manual are available in the
toolbar.
Toolbar
The following describes the buttons in the toolbar.

When using the [Help] button in GP-Pro EX
dialog boxes or the [F1] key to display help, the [Locate] button
will not run. However, from the help's [Contents] tab click the
topic title to display the topic again, and enable use of [Locate]
button.
[Show] / [Hide]
Use the [Show] and [Hide] buttons to show or hide the Navigation Pane (Table of Contents / Index /
Search)
[Locate]
Use the [Locate] button to synchronize the table of contents
with the currently displayed topic. This feature is useful to see
where the current topic is located in the manual structure.
[Back]
Use the [Back] button to return to the previously viewed
topic.
[Forward]
After using the [Back] button, you can use the [Forward] button
to go up one topic in the topic viewing history.
[Home]
Use the [Home] button to view the start page.
[Print]
Use the [Print] button to print this document. For details on
its usage, please see Printing
This Document.
[Options]
Use the [Options] button to view a list of commands. See the
following for descriptions on each command.
Hide Tabs / Show Tabs
Same operation as the [Show]/[Hide] buttons in the toolbar.
Locate
Same operation as the [Locate] button in the toolbar.
Back
Same operation as the [Back] button in the toolbar.
Forward
Same operation as the [Forward] button in the toolbar.
Home
Same operation as the [Home] button in the toolbar.
Stop
Click [Stop] to stop loading the topic. [Stop] works with the
current topic display.
Refresh
Click [Refresh] to re-load the current topic.
Internet Options
Click [Internet Options] to view the Internet Explorer
application's [Internet Options] dialog box.
Print
Same operation as the [Print] button in the toolbar.
Search Highlight On / Search Highlight Off
When using the Search feature, click [Search Highlight On] or
[Search Highlight Off] to highlight matching strings in a
topic.
Searching Through This Document
This document includes search capabilities to make it easy to
find the information you want. You search the document using the
different tabs in left frame of the window. The following describes
how to search using each tab.
Contents
[Contents] tab displays the table of contents for this
document.
Book ( / )
Books act as folders to organize the various pages and list
titles of associated topics.
The book icon on the left indicates the book is closed,
and the book icon on the right indicates the book is open.
Click a book to view the assoicated contents in the main
frame.
Double-click a closed book to open the book and view its associated
topics.
Double-click an open book to close the book and hide its associated
topics.
Topic ()
Topics are titles of associated pages in the table of
contents.
Click a topic to view its associated content in the main
frame.
Index
When the [Keyword] tab is selected, the index with registered
keywords are displayed. Enter the index key word, or select the key
word in the index list, then either click [Display] to display the
corresponding topic.
When there are multiple associated topics, all associated topics
are listed in a dialog box. In the [Topics Found] dialog box,
select a topic and then click [Display].
Search
When the [Search] tab is selected, you can use full-text search.
Type the word you want to find and click the [Search] button to
list the search results.
The descriptions of search methods and each function are as
follows.
Type in the word(s) to search for
Type the phrase to search for in this field.

When using the following in searches, enclose
the text in double quotation marks.

Text strings with spaces (For example, "GP-Pro
EX")
-
Different types of characters and symbols (For
example, "RS-232C")
Operator
Click the icon on the right-side of the
[Search] field to use the following search conditions.
To search for topics with the words "A" and
"B", enter "A AND B".
To search for topics with the words "A" or
"B", enter "A OR B".
To search for topics with the word "A"
located within eight characters of "B", enter "A NEAR B".
To search for topics that have the word "A"
and not the word "B", enter "A NOT B".
[List Topics]
Click [List Topics] to search for topics that match the search
criteria defined in the [Type in the word(s) to search for] field.
The search results are displayed in the [Select topic] pane.
[Display]
Click [Display] to view in the main frame the contents of the
current selection in the [Select topic] pane. You can also
double-click an item in the [Select topic] pane to view its
contents.
Found
Displays the number of topics that match the search
criteria.
Select topic
Lists the topics that match the search criteria.
Title
Displays the titles of topics that match the search criteria.
Click [Title] to sort the search results by topic names. Drag the
sides of the [Title] heading to adjust the width of this
column.
Location
Displays the title of the chapter where the topic is located.
Click [Location] to sort the search results by chapter titles. Drag
the sides of the [Location] heading to adjust the width of this
column.
Rank
Ranks the relationship between the search string and matching
topics. Rankings are determined by HTML Help. Please refer to its
associated documentation on how rankings are determined.
Search previous results
Select to reduce the search to topics listed in the [Select
topic] pane.
Match similar words
Select to search for variations in the same word. (For example,
useāused)
Search titles only
Select to search only the titles of topics.
