 FAQs
 The GP's screen becomes dark.

Check the following to see how the backlight is being turned off:

1: The "Backlight OFF" bit in the system data area is ON.
In the GP's system data area, there is the bit to turn off the GP's backlight.
(When connecting the PLC, it is Bit 00 of Word +14. When using Memory Link, it is Bit 00 of Address 11)
If you use the bit for switches or turn it on with the ladder on the PLC side, the GP's backlight will be turned off. Therefore the display becomes dark.
However, as the LCD is working, the touch input is accepted if you touch the screen.
For the models without a backlight (GP477R and GP470), this feature is not present.

Recovery Method
Unplug the communication cable between the GP and the PLC. Cycle the GP's power. The values in the system data area will be reset and the backlight will light. If the communication cable cannot be unplugged, turn off the "Backlight Off Bit" in the PLC. (Bit 00 of Word +14 when connecting to the PLC or In case of Memory Link, Bit 00 of Address 11).

2: The screen is being turned off in the GP's system data area.
In the GP's system data area, there is an address to turn OFF the GP's screen display.
This address needs to be set to 0 Hex for the screen to be on.
(Address +9 when connecting to the PLC, or Address 12 if using Memory Link)
Also, values other than 0h or FFFFh are the minutes before the screen automatically turns off.

Recovery Method
Set word +9 of the system data area to 0.

3: Trying to open a non-existing screen
If you try to display a base screen that has not been transferred to the GP, the PLC's series name and version are displayed as shown below:

Recovery Method
Change the settings of the GP's initial screen number to a base screen number that exists in your project. Then transfer the project to the GP.

- Settings with OFFLINE

- Settings with GP-PRO/PBIII C-Package

4: The brightness and/or contrast are low.
Adjust the brightness and contrast on the GP.
